Keeping our head

Rudyard Kipling said “If you can keep your head when all about you
are losing theirs and blaming it on you..”

So, how do we keep a balanced mind?

People will either transform civilisation together on this beautiful finite planet or nature will. Transformation will require many balanced and open minds coming together with a common purpose for the common good.

Balancing rocks is an act of faith. Faith that there is a point at which various shaped rocks can interact so well they are in balance. With this idea in mind the job was to find that minimal point of balance to create a sculpture that expresses Kipling’s idea of keeping our heads.

The location is where we often walk to, uphill through the bush, where hardly anyone goes. We often go up there to make a cup of coffee and enjoy the view out to the lake and mountains: Our way of keeping our heads.
